Table of contents
We will make this Caprese salad respecting the original recipes. We will use tomatoes, mozzarella and basil leaves because in my opinion there is no point in complicating this delicious salad too much.
Let Me Show You the Ingredients
Of course, the basic ingredients are the tomatoes, which must be seasonal, if possible ripe in the sun and flavoured. That's why I recommend that you make this salad when it's tomatoes season if you want to get a delicious Caprese salad.
Another recommendation would be to use several types of tomatoes, so you can combine several flavours. I use four types of tomatoes.
We also need some mozzarella. I will use 250 g and some basil leaves, which will flavour the salad.
How it Make the Tomatoes Caprese Salad Recipe?
In my opinion, this is one of the easiest salads and one of the fastest recipes I've made. First, we have to slice the tomatoes, so we started with the big ones that we washed and cut them in half first.
Then I cut them in half again and sliced them because I didn't want to have very large slices.
I continued with the yellow tomatoes, which are a little smaller I only cut them in two and then I sliced them.
We place them on top of the other sliced tomatoes on a larger plate.
I decided to season them now because I can mix them better. So I put a teaspoon of sea salt, a teaspoon of freshly ground pepper and a teaspoon of dried oregano.
Now we can slice the mozzarella, into not too large pieces, ideally should be the size of tomato slices.
Place the mozzarella among the tomato slices and finish with the cherry tomatoes cut in half.
Break some fresh basil leaves, which are not recommended to cut with a knife, but just to spread over the tomatoes.
Sprinkle everything with extra virgin olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar (if you want you can omit it), and that's it my tomatoes Caprese salad recipe, ready to serve.
