The Best Turkey Meatloaf Recipe

After many attempts and changes, I found the best turkey meatloaf recipe, from boiled turkey drumsticks and fresh vegetables. It is a continuation of a previous recipe, the world best turkey soup recipe, from which I took out the turkey drumsticks and used them to make this delicious recipe.

In fact, this meatloaf recipe can be made from almost any kind of meat, from beef or pork to any poultry. I use the same method, first boil the meat for the soup, then make meatloaf out of it.

Usually, meatloaf is made from minced meat, but if I use boiled meat, I will cut it into pieces first, and finally grind it with the mixer, following that everything will be baked in the oven in the form of a cake.

Let’s Start With Ingredients.

As I said, I used boiled meat from the soup, in our case two boiled turkey drumsticks.

We will also use some fresh vegetables, such as two carrots, two medium-sized onions and a red kapia pepper.

Having a piece of leek in the fridge, I thought of using it too.

Prepare the Ingredients

Let’s start with the vegetables, wash and peel them and remove the kapia pepper seeds.

We cut the onion into not too thin slices because we will grind the whole composition anyway.

We do the same with the carrots that we cut coarsely and the peppers into cubes.

We deboned the meat, being very well cooked, we will remove the bones very easily from them.

Then we cut it into pieces, not very large so that it can be ground more easily.

Well, we can start cooking the best turkey meatloaf recipe.

How to Make The Best Turkey Meatloaf Recipe?

For this we will first make a kind of stew, to cook the vegetables and we start with the onion that we put in hot oil to fry.

Fry for a minute, stirring, then add the vegetables.

For more flavour and because the oil I heated was not enough, I added two tablespoons of lard (or duck or goose).

Season with a tablespoon of salt, a teaspoon of freshly ground pepper and a tablespoon of sweet paprika powder.

Mix and let everything cook for about five minutes, then put the meat cut into pieces.

We put two tablespoons of sweet pepper paste, which will give a wonderful taste to our dish.

Mix everything lightly, add a little water (I put about half a glass) and let it boil until the vegetables are done about twenty minutes.

If you make this recipe but you don’t have boiled meat, you can use freshly minced meat, but in this case, the cooking time will be longer about 40 minutes.

We stop the fire and let everything cool down a bit, so we can work easier. Transfer everything to a larger bowl where we can grind everything with a blender.

Mix everything until you get a homogeneous paste, but if you find it difficult with the blender, try with the food processor.

Now we are going to season this pasta. To be more creamy, add about 50 g of butter and two whole eggs, to bind better.

Add two tablespoons of Dijon mustard, two tablespoons of breadcrumbs and a teaspoon of marjoram. Taste and if you want you can add more salt and pepper. I added another teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of freshly ground pepper.

Mix well until you get a uniform paste that we are going to put in the oven. If you find it too soft, you can add a little more breadcrumbs.

Baking The Turkey Meatloaf

We prepare a baking form for the oven, I chose a round one made of heat-resistant glass, which I previously greased well with butter.

Pour all our composition in this form, and smooth it with a spatula, then put four cubes of butter on top, which helps us not to dry out.

Put the bowl in the hot oven at 180 degrees and let it bake for about 30 minutes until it gets a nice golden colour.

And that’s it, in my opinion, this is the best turkey meatloaf recipe, which we now have to let cool completely so we can take it out of the bowl and serve it.

Serving The Meatloaf

After it has cooled, turn the meatloaf on a plate or tray after which it can be sliced.

Cut like a cake, into slices and serve on a plate as such or with a side dish.

It goes well for example with a potato salad with homemade mayonnaise or even with mashed potatoes. We like to eat it as such with toast with butter, possibly with a tomato salad, it is special.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 pieces turkey drumsticks about 400 g meat or mince
  • 2 pieces carrots
  • 2 pieces onions medium size
  • 1 piece red kapia pepper
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 tbsp pork lard
  • 1 tbsp sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp sweet paprika powder

Meatloaf Paste

  • 2 pieces whole eggs
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper

Baking

  • 25 g unsalted butter
