About Us-Timea's Kitchen

We live in England in the West Midlands, but we are both originally from Transylvania, a historical region of Romania..

This lovely and exciting region is inhabited by many nations, including Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Saxons, Jews, Ukrainians, and Slovaks.

Transylvanian cuisine is therefore a mix of recipes borrowed from these diverse cultures.

My husband and I, who come from different ethnic groups, are from different regions of Transylvania. Our cuisine includes both Hungarian and Romanian recipes, reflecting influences from areas like Maramures, Szeklerland, Cluj, and Oradea.

WHAT DO YOU SEE IN TIMEA'S KITCHEN?

You'll get a glimpse into our lives - how we cook, what we eat, and the Transylvanian traditions we cherish and love to share.

I've been cooking for about 30 years now! It all started when I was 16. My mother broke her leg skiing, and I had to take her place in the kitchen. Now, I have two grown children who have started their own families.

After I got married, I started modifying some recipes and introducing new ones to suit our tastes. My husband and I come from different backgrounds - different ethnicities and different regions of Transylvania.

LET'S SEE STEP BY STEP HOW WE COOK

I invite you to visit Timea's Kitchen, where we can cook together and find recipe inspiration! Beginners will find easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions for all our dishes, from Hungarian goulash to Romanian tripe soup and cottage cheese donuts-transylvanian recipe. . We'd love for you to share your favorite recipes with us too - we're always eager to try new things!

Hello you two, and greetings from Aberdeenshire in far NE Scotland to you in West Midlands! I have friends in Moldavia (Iasi) so I know something about special Rom recipes. The other side of the country from Transylvania, I know, but Rom cooking is sooooo good! Your pork and cannelini recipe looks very very good...so I am going to cook it tomorrow (Thurs 19/2/26). Marks out of 10 tomorrow after I eat! And I hope you are happy in UK after so many years here and raising a family. We used to be a better country.....

Thank you so much for the warm greeting from Scotland! It’s so nice to meet a reader with friends in Iași. Romanian food really does have a way of bringing people together. Looking forward to your review, and thank you for the lovely words about our family and our life here. Enjoy the stew!
