Sweet Fried Semolina Pudding Recipe

This weekend I present a dessert that marked my childhood, a sweet fried semolina pudding recipe. I don’t think it’s a kid who doesn’t like semolina pudding, sprinkled over with sugar and cinnamon, or cocoa powder.

This recipe is actually a continuation of the remaining semolina pudding, the day after it has hardened. My grandmother cut this pudding into pieces, passed it through the flour and beaten egg, and fried it. It was delicious!

Now, however, we will remember our recipe for fried semolina pudding, in its own way. It’s our favourite like cream cheese filling crepes.

Let’s Start Cooking the Sweet Fried Semolina Pudding Recipe

Today I will make about four large portions of this dessert if you want you can increase the quantities.

I used about 200 g of semolina to 1 l of milk, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

In the beginning, I put the milk to boil in a pot, together with vanilla and 80 g of sugar. When the milk starts to boil, slowly pour the grey, mixing with an egg beater.

Boil everything for 10 minutes over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens.

When the pudding is ready, pour it on a tray, or on any flat surface. I used the worktop in the kitchen, over which I put plastic foil.

With a spatula, spread the pudding evenly in a thickness of 1 cm – 1.5 cm, as you wish and let it cool.

After it has cooled, cut the pudding with a knife, into approximately equal shapes.

You can cut in any shape and size you want, even round, with the help of a glass.

Now we can go to fry. First, put on a plate about 50 g of wheat flour, through which we pass the pudding pieces.

In a bowl, beat two whole eggs well, and pass through the pieces of pudding, which we shook from the flour.

Frying the Semolina Pudding

In a pan, heat 100 ml of sunflower oil, in which we fry the pudding.

Fry them on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes, on each side, until they turn a golden colour.

We remove the fried semolina pudding slices, on a kitchen towel, and let them drain from the oil.

Continue until you fry all the pieces of pudding.

If you want to put the plate on the table, you just have to sprinkle a little caster sugar over them.

Ideal Serving

It can be served portioned, putting 3-4 pieces on a plate, with powdered sugar and cherry jam.

Thank you, i have never tried this semolina pudding but have to admit that from the looks it really does look amazing and eating new foods really is my thing though im sure I'll burn something along the way. The egg yolk and the egg whites how exactly do you separate them? Do you do it after boiling the egg because as a raw egg I have absolutely no idea how that can be done.

I can honestly say I had never heard of Semolina Pudding before but my goodness, it looks super delicious to me!  And then fry it?  Oh be still my beating heart!

I am curious - do you top it with anything besides jam?  I am thinking maple syrup or perhaps  butterscotch sauce would be simply delightful!

I have never heard of Semolina and had to look it up. This looks really good though. I am game for anything with some sugar on top of it and fried. This is a really great site with recipes of foods I have not tried. That makes me curious and may have to try some. Thank you for sharing your culture foods with us.
