I recommend today a simple and tasty potato salad with home-made mayonnaise. t is very easy to do and has many variations, but I introduce you the simplest and cheapest potato salad. It can be consumed as such or as a garnish next to meat steaks.

  • 1 kg potatoes red salad potatoes
  • 2 pieces red onions
  • 2 tbsp sea salt in water
  • 1 tbsp sea salt in salad
  • 1 tbsp ground pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp vegetable stock granules Knorr Delikat
  • 2 tbsp dill chopped
  • 1 tbsp thyme chopped
  • 2 tbsp chives. chopped

From mayonnaise, we use:

  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 pieces egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp cream fresh
  • ½ pieces lemon juice


Let's begin!

  • For starters, we chose the bigger potatoes, depending on how many people we are, I put nearly a kilo of potatoes, so many pots were placed in a pot on a row and reached for 4 people.
  • So I chose the potatoes, washed them well and boiled them in cold water with two tablespoons of sea salt.
  • After the potatoes have boiled, we drop the water from them and let them cool down a little, not everything, but how can we clean them without burning our hands. I cooked them a little too much and did not use salad potatoes, so look like this, but at the end they will never be seen and will be tasty.
  • After we have cleaned the potatoes, cut the slices or cubes as you wish. We clean and cut off two red onions. Mix the onion with the potatoes and season with sea salt and freshly ground pepper. I also put a spoon of Knorr Delikat, a special food seasoning.

Prepare Homemade Mayonnaise

  • Before we grab the mayonnaise, we took half a bunch of dill, thyme and chives that we chopped a little.
  • We make a home mayonnaise from a tablespoon of mustard and two egg yolks, which we mix by adding sunflower oil until we get a creamy paste. Season with sea salt and freshly ground pepper as well as with half lemon juice. If you want the most creamy mayonnaise, add one tablespoon of sour cream.
  • When we are ready, we mix in the mayonnaise chopped greens, leaving a little greenery for decoration.
  • If you do not have time or do not want to make you mayonnaise, you can use the mayonnaise from the trade, where you put a tablespoon of sour cream or fatty yogurt.

Finishing the Salad

  • All we have to do is mix the mayonnaise with the potatoes that have cooled in the meantime and decorate with a little greenery.
  • It is good that when you put the mayonnaise, the potatoes are cooled, otherwise there is a risk that the mayonnaise will be cut off.
  • And ready, you can serve delicious potato salad with mayonnaise.
