This is in my opinion the best homemade guacamole recipe, due to the simplicity and quality of the ingredients but also due to the perfect balance of flavours. Guacamole dip is an ideal appetizer served with tortilla chips, crackers or even toast, and with a glass of margarita, delightful!

Equipment

  • 1 bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 pieces avocado riped
  • ½ piece red onion chopped
  • 1 piece cayenne pepper chopped
  • 2 tbsp chives chopped
  • 1 piece lemon juice or lime
  • 2 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 tsp sea salt kosher
  • 1 tsp ground pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp parsley chopped

Instructions

  • I first cut the avocados in half and I remove the seeds. I peeled the red onion and cut the cayenne pepper in half lengthwise and removed the seeds to temper its spiciness. Using a spoon, I removed the avocado core from the peel and then cut it into small cubes and put it in a bowl. I finely chopped half of the red onion and cayenne pepper. I also finely chopped the chives.
  • With the help of a fork, I will easily mash the avocado pieces until I get an inhomogeneous paste. Over the mashed avocado, add the chopped onion, the chopped cayenne pepper and the finely chopped chives. Squeeze the juice from a lemon, season with sea salt and freshly ground pepper and add two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil,
  • Mix all the ingredients well with a spoon, add a tablespoon of chopped parsley and mix again to incorporate all the ingredients well. Put the bowl with guacamole in the cold for 15 minutes to combine the flavours.
  • The easiest way to serve is in a bowl with some crackers or tortilla chips. You can also toast some bread and cut it into sticks to soak in this dip.
